Wednesday -Beautiful Bookmarks-Lets get Reading!

Purpose:  To look at the items we discard to see if they can be made into functional items.  Trash into treasure.  Kids will begin to develop create solutions and problem solving by discovering new uses for items.

 Activity:  1) Campers visit kitchen or recycling room to gather old cereal boxes or cardboard items. 2) cutting cardboard into bookmark sized strips. 3) Walk to gather nature items-ex-flower petals and leaves.  4) Children color/past/sticker/etc onto cardboard pieces.  4) Teacher laminates 5) Optional activity of children bringing their favorite book in to share with the class, and to show everyone where their bookmark's "home" will be.

Materials: 1) cardboard cereal boxes 2) crayons/markers/paint  3) laminate paper 4) nature pieces collected during nature walk 5) glue sticks
